Archiving Policy

The ALCOM: Journal of Algorithm and Computing is dedicated to ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published content. We recognize the importance of safeguarding scholarly work and adhere to robust archiving practices to protect against data loss or journal discontinuity.

1. Digital Archiving

All articles published in ALCOM are archived in reliable digital repositories to ensure their availability for future generations. The journal employs the following mechanisms for digital archiving:

  • Institutional Repositories: Published articles are deposited in institutional repositories that comply with international preservation standards.
  • LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): ALCOM participates in the LOCKSS program, which creates decentralized backup copies across multiple libraries to safeguard against content loss.
  • PKP Preservation Network (PN): Articles are also archived through the Public Knowledge Project’s Preservation Network, providing additional redundancy and long-term storage.

2. Publisher Archiving

All published content is securely stored on the journal’s servers with regular backups to prevent accidental data loss or corruption.

3. Self-Archiving by Authors

Authors are encouraged to self-archive their published articles in institutional or subject-based repositories. ALCOM allows authors to deposit:

  • Preprints: The version submitted to the journal prior to peer review.
  • Postprints: The accepted version after peer review but before final typesetting.
  • Published Version: The final, formatted article, as long as proper credit is given to ALCOM and the original publication link is provided.

4. Open Access Commitment

As an open-access journal, all content published in ALCOM is freely available online without restrictions. Articles are assigned DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) for persistent identification and easy retrieval.

5. In Case of Journal Discontinuity

In the unlikely event of journal discontinuation, all published content will remain accessible through our archiving partners and digital repositories, ensuring uninterrupted availability for researchers worldwide.
